As many of you already know I'm a bit of Luddite. Well, maybe a descendant of King Ludd himself. I don't really care much for new technology and new technology tends to hate me right back. Whenever I get a piece of high tech gadgetry it hears me making fun of people who wait in line for iWhatevers and commits revolutionary suicide to spite me.

It would appear that my brand-damn-new (as in less than 6 months old) Dell laptop (Inspiron) is joining the Palm Pilot my old man got me in '02 in self-immolation. It just refused to turn on. I hope it isn't truly gone from this Earth, as I have no money to replace it. Geek Squad says I should have it back on Saturday but I'll believe it when I see it.

Next time you see me remind me to share with you my theory that all modern technology is driven by computer nerds and their quest to prove to George Lucas that THEY are the biggest Star Wars fan...

You have to wonder what's in someone's past when they instantly apologize for stating an opinion, expressing fandom, or having anything to say at all really. Sad.

I think I might hate Sarah Palin a little less than I hate that bunch of bandwagon-jumping (tried to get on the ska wagon in '96, then the rap rock wagon in '97, then the emo wagon in '00) Midwestern jock mouth breathers. Oh sweet Jesus.

You know you've been away too long when you walk into a party and you begin to hear shrieks of "He's ALIVE!" and "no way, NO WAY!" coming out of your fellow partygoers. I rolled into eclecticavatar's party fashionably late (I mean really, have you known me to be on time for anything) and got a reaction I was a little unprepared for. But I have been unconnected for longer than I realized.

I was watching World Cup highlights when I got an email update about her party. I've been something of a hermit (in some respects) as of late but I mean...the girl lives right up the road. I was exhausted from a long day of getting megalugz's car fixed but I looked at who was going to be there (a fine cast of characters) and grabbed the 12 pack of Narragansett out of my fridge. I kind of feel like I've been in a deep freeze and I don't know why. It seems like time has just flown by and I can't seem to figure out where it's gone.

Although apparently some of you have kept my name in circulation, and for that I thank you. I need to make a concerted effort to get out and be more social (now who would have ever thought I'd need to say THAT?). Honestly I can't explain where I've been, it hasn't been anything special. There's been the usual travails and trials with the Opposite Sex and you'll probably hear about them (if you missed Renee's party). I've gotten a little older and in a very short period of time (September) I'll be older still. I've really just been in a rut, spinning my wheels. What's that Billy Bragg song? Waiting for the Great Leap Forward.

I need to stop waiting and get out and do things.

Whew, I need a mask when I blow on this thing. Long time, no updates. Of course there about 256 stories since...what, last friggin' November? Wow. I got out of the habit of updating this. Am I wrong in remembering that there was a worry this site would shut down?

I actually own a laptop, that should scare some people.

I'm still in Arlington, I'm still the guy you know. I'm a little unsure of what to put here now. Sometime when I have about 18 hours to lay everything down I'll do so.

Today, ten years ago, on a bench along the Charles I entered my twenties. Now after more adventures, mistakes, triumphs, and tragedies than a Faulkner novel I have left them behind me. This calls for a party, don't you think?
